Just Give Me A Reason

If you've been checking into my blog in the past you know I have a passion for music. It can be so relate-able & therapeutic. A song can have many meanings for different people. 

When I first heard "Just Give Me A Reason" but Pink & Nate Ruess I just plain liked it. I really didn't even feel a particular "pull" to the song. Earlier this month when I was listening to the song a connection really rung home & I posted this status on Facebook:

This reminds me of the year after Landan passed away. We fought so much, I told Andy all the time I didn't want to be married anymore, etc. I just didn't want to be loved by anyone for awhile. I wanted to feel empty. So thankful we were able to overcome such a horrible time that most couples don't make it through together. Even though we bicker I couldn't imagine being with anyone else.

It's weird to reflect on a time when I thought I would be "ok" without Andy. I can still remember how mean things got that year after Landan died. We even got into one physical fight that included pushing & screaming. I still wonder how the cops weren't called that time. Atleast three holes were put into our apartment walls during that time as well. It was just very volatile. We spent alot of time apart from each other. It had to have made Landan sad to look down on two of his favorite people and see how mean they were being to each other. Kinda makes me sad to think about that. But I'm just that things turned around.  I guess in some way I can thank my anxiety for that. After having anxiety for awhile it got to a point where I just wanted to be home, with Andy when I was anxious. I needed him. Shortly after we got pregnant with Layne and were so excited. So in love from the beginning. He's changed our lives just like Landan did & continues to. 

I feel very blessed to have my family & the friends I do have. Those are the most important things in my life.

Edited to add, a few days later our darn kitties were running out from under the tree & knocked a hand & piece of a wing off of my beautiful tree topper. She hit the window sill on the way down! I'm going to have to bust out the glue gun!

Buddy the Elf, Day 1

While I was Black Friday shopping, I saw The Elf On The Shelf! I'd seen pictures of him on Pinterest & thought about getting one but never looked to see where they were sold. SO, I grabbed him up at Target while I was shopping! We read the book & my 4yr old couldn't decide on a name, so we made a list & he picked out the name "Buddy." I'm going to start posting the daily adventures of Buddy here on my blog!

Day 1- Layne found Buddy hanging out on top of one of our Christmas decorations!

Family Update

I posted a few days ago that I'd be writing an update soon, today is the day.

Trying to think of any important things that have happened since earlier this year. In July we moved from a small, cramped 2br basement apartment into a spacious 3br townhouse! It was sad to move from our first home together as a family. We buried a time capsule outside Landan's window, with a letter inside to whom finds it, a few pictures of Landan & a small toy of his. We're loving our new place & the space to grow that it offers along with it!

We decided to not put Layne into preschool this year & wait another year. It's such a scary thing for us, after losing a child. Ugh. I'm still feeling so undecided on it all, but I know it will be GREAT for him! He'd love some little friends to play with.

I've ventured out into photography! Working on gathering the equipment I need (still need lighting) and always shopping for fun props! I'd love to have you as a fan on my page by clicking HERE and you can visit my website here - www.lhwphotography.com.

Layne just turned 4yrs old on November 1st. It was a bittersweet birthday for us, as it is a birthday that Landan did not reach here on earth. Nonetheless we are thankful to have Layne with us & continue to miss Landan!

Avengers Themed Birthday Party

So my littlest man turned 4yrs old on November 1st! He is really into super hero's so it was pretty obvious to his dad & I that we'd do an Avengers themed party! My husband works in the bakery at a grocery store, so he was able to get us a huge 7ft Avengers display for us to put up as decoration.

I'll let the pictures do most of the talking below.

Made from sugar cookies, green whipped icing (YUM!) and some

black licorice for the hair.

These were our party favors! You've probably seen these cups for about 98 cents

at places like Walmart. So we got one of each character & one with all the characters on it.

My mom found some little Avengers notepads at Target & I got the Avengers markers at

Walmart. Inside the cups were Avengers themed candy we found at The Dollar Tree!

"ALL AMERICAN SUBS"
My mom has always bought subs for food at Layne's party, it's just something easy to pick up!

So I decided to stick with the theme & give them some Avengers themed name.

This was Layne's birthday cake! Made by my mom as always. I found the idea on Pinterest,

I would link but it was a user upload to Pinterest.

And to close out the post, my little 4yr old blowing out his candles!

So long story short, my friend tells me she has a new blog & wants to get back into blogging. So I'm like - yay, me too!

Anyway, it's late ... or very early in the morning hours right now but I'll be back tomorrow with an update on what we've been up too!

Yes, I sad 366! It's a leap year ya'll. After seeing a Facebook friend post that she was starting a 366 Blog on New Years Day I thought ... I've always wanted to do one, perfect timing for me to see her post!
